The Republic XP-72 was a high altitude interceptor version of the venerable P-47. Only two were built. This profile represents the first one, with a standard 4-bladed propeller. The second prototype had a six-bladed contra-rotating propeller. Overall natural metal, the only markings on this plane were the national insignia and the serial number.
