Finnish
Air Force - 1939-45
By Kalevi Keskinen & Kari Stenman
Publisher: Squadron Signal Publications
In the now-standard Squadron/Signal format of 64
pages and several hundred photographs, Kalevi Keskinen and Kari Stenman
provide modelers with as much information as anyone could ask for regarding
the Finnish Air Force, one of the most interesting air forces to see
combat in the Second World War.
Photographs and color profiles cover examples of
every aircraft flown operationally by the Finns during both the Winter
War (1939-40) and the Continuation War (1941-44), as well as the Lapland
Campaign of 1944-45 which required the Finns to turn against their
erstwhile allies the Germans and drive them from northern Finland as
a condition of the September 1944 armistice with the Soviet Union.
Both photographs and profiles provide a good deal of inspiration for
a modeler looking for something out of the ordinary to grace the display
shelves.
The accompanying text is well-written and highly
informative, and provided information about various aspects of these
campaigns that this reviewer had not been previously aware of.
Highly recommended.
