Wulf Fw 190A/F/G Part 1
Colortech #1
By Thomas A. Tullis
Published by Cutting Edge
Attention Luftwaffe fans!! Cutting
Edge has just published one of the handiest color guides for doing
Fw-190s this reviewer has seen. Let the author, Thomas A. Tullis, describe
what it's about in the introduction:
"this publication is designed to give you a
quick reference guide to the color schemes and markings employed on
the Fw-190A/F/G series of aircraft. In recent years, much new information
on Luftwaffe camouflage and markings has been discovered, some of which
conflicts with previously released material. This book compiles this
new research into one concise source and clarifies some of the conflicting
information previously published."
In going through this book, that is exactly what
this book does. With research assistance from Scott Battistoni, Dana
Bell, Mike Bobe, Dave E. Brown, Jerry and Judy Crandall, Eddie Creek,
James V. Crow, Tom Dietz, Robert Forsyth, Bud Golem, Jennings Heilig,
Thomas Hitchcock, George Hopp, Ray Horta, and others, the booklet stands
on very solid ground.
There are a number of color plates of camouflage
patterns, theater-specific identification markings, and 8 color profiles
of some very interesting-looking Butcher birds from various periods
of the war that I had not seen anywhere else. This looks to be a something
fans of Kurt Tank's fighter will want to get hold of.
