Revell Monogram SnapTite Grave Digger Monster Truck
By Don Atherton Monster Trucks have been popular over the years and the Grave Digger is one of the more notable ones. Revell-Monogram has made a good decision to offer more kits geared toward the younger modeler. This type of kit and the subject should attract new younger modelers to the hobby. I applaud you Revell-Monogram for your efforts to promote this hobby to the younger modeler!
The tubular frame chassis/roll cage is molded in green and has 5 parts. All well done and should look like a very well detailed unit when assembled. The drive train is well represented. Although not entirely accurate, it does look quite detailed. It is molded in silver and the whole chassis and drive train unit screws together. The wheels are huge. I do find it strange that the wheel backers are silver and the outer half of the wheels are green. The actual truck has silver wheels. The tires are huge! They take up most of the space in the kit box. They represent Goodyear Super Terra Grip tires. There is quite an excessive amount of flash on these tires and adult supervision will be necessary when trimming this flashing off. The clear parts consist of the windshield and headlights.
Revell-Monogram is heading in the right direction with this kit. I'm sure many new modelers will be entering the hobby if kit's like this keep coming from Morton Grove. This will make a great Parent/Child project in which both will have fun. |
