Want to see even more WWI stuff? Then check out Robert Karr's beautiful examples below. And if you're sick of multi-winged planes, there's also a pair of beautiful Canadian Mustangs.

Scratchbuilt 1/48 Sopwith Tabloid

By Robert Karr

1/48 scratchbuilt, from mainly clear 1/16" styrene sheet. Engine and wheels from Eduard, struts are bamboo. All rigging is invisible thread. A provisional set of markings based on a real serial number, but nothing is known about this Tabloid except it was hashed together from scattered bits and may have had ailerons, maybe not! Mine does.

Scratchbuilt 1/48 Pfalz Dr.I

By Robert Karr

Solid wood fuselage, wings from Glencoe Albatros sanded slick to make barely under-cambered "wing stock", tail pieces from .020" sheet, Eduard 11 cylinder Siemans engine, hand carved mahogony prop, Pfalz ply fuselage wrapping duplicated with heavy paint layed on in alternating diagonal stripes beneath surface silver-gray.

1/48 Pfalz E.II

By Robert Karr

100% scratchbuilt from clear styrene sheet, although translucent effect doesn't show up well in photos. Wheels are plastic with "o" tires, gun jacket is thin sprue and thick paint blobs - pre-etched brass days!, engine from wire wrapped tube for cylinders around tube crankcase, mahogony prop, invisible thread rigging, hand sprayed markings.

Fokker DR.I

By Robert Karr

Out of the box (yes I can do this!)DML 1/48 except with Paul Baumer's Jasta Boelcke markings. Much frustration with warped top wing, but I conquered!

Canadian P-51 Mustangs

By Andy Irving

Both are 1/48 Tamiya P51D's, both built out of the box, seat belts drawn in and painted.

SNJ finish on both. "City of Winnipeg Sqdn" wash of india ink with surplus wiped of with an alcohol dampened cloth. Exhaust panel finished with Testors Metallizer.

"City of Vancouver Sqdn" some panels rubbed with powdered pencil graphite using a "Q" tip , wing, exhaust panels, and trim tabs done in Testors Metallizer ,"Stainless Steel"

Decals on both Models by a Canadian Company, Arrow Graphics, who at the present time is rather dormant due to job demands. Recently found a set of "City of Calgary" decals for another Cdn Auxilliary Sdn Mustang, at a local contest, with one more set to get, "City of Hamilton", hard to find.
