ICM's 1/35 "Conflict in Kosovo, 1999" Russian Spetsnaz VDV Figures

By Michael Benolkin

Background

Many of you remember the fear and concern that many folks in the region had when news that the Russian Army was to participate in the peace keeping operations in Kosovo. The Russian and Yugoslav governments are traditional allies and these folks also remember seeing Russian soldiers working with Serb forces earlier in the crisis. Despite these concerns, the Russian Army jumped into the peacekeeping operations to ensure that there was no bias against their allies or anyone else. When these Russian peacekeepers were confronted with armed and angry Serbs, the world saw that Russia takes its role as a peacekeeper very seriously.

The Kit (click on thumbnail for larger image)

ICM has produced a four-figure set representing members of the 'Spetsnaz', the Russian Special Forces, on patrol near Prishtina. The kit, totaling 46 pieces, is molded on a single tree of light gray plastic. It includes an officer and three NCOs, each carrying the latest in weaponry, including the current-issue sniper rifle. There are no visible sink marks or flaws of any kind on any of the parts, and the detailing is as crisp as any figures on the market. In fact, the layout and detail of these figures compare to the best that DML has produced in recent years. These figures will be a great addition to next vignette. Recommended!

My thanks to ICM/USA for this review sample. Check out the ICM Website for a look at some of the exciting releases they have planned over the next year!
