G-Port's 1/8 Soryu Asuka Langley (Evangelion) click on thumbnails for full image The Show One of the most popular anime series in recent times would have to be Neon Genesis Evangelion. Excellent animation, interesting characters and some really cool weaponry! Set in 2015, Earth has being invaded by the Angels, huge, powerful alien war machines. In order to fight the invaders, the Evangelions are developed. These are humanoid fighting machines piloted by teenagers who are able to interface with the mecha itself. In contrast to the threatening, almost bulky looks of the Eva machines, the pilots in their plug suits are very sleek indeed. None more so than Asuka Langley - the very talented pilot of Eva-02. This young genius is one of the most endearing characters in the whole series, possibly because of the problems she faces dealing with people. Although some may say it's the way she looks in her plug suit :-) The Kit This kit by G-Port is sculpted by Ryujin and while not a pose seen in the series, it is one you could imagine Asuka sitting in. Moulded in white resin, the kit comes in 11 pieces with a one-page instruction sheet. On close inspection of the parts, you can see just how good this kit is. The hands, in particular, are very well done. The rest of the body is also of a very high standard. It really shows what can be achieved when high quality sculpting meets equally high quality molding. There are no pits or bubbles to be seen anywhere, only the tabs left over from the molding itself need to be removed and cleaned up. The fit is excellent, which is just as well as the head consists of five parts. This would have to be the trickiest part of the kit's construction but it shouldn't pose too many problems for anyone with a bit of modelling experience. Conclusion The quality of this kit is amazing. I can't wait to start it and I would recommend it to anybody looking for a simple figure that will give stunning results.
