1/72 & 1/144 Scale Resin Detail Sets CMK 7002 P-40E Interior Set For the Hasegawa kit The usual standard for Hasegawa cockpits in 1/72 is to provide the basics in plastic and the details with decals. This may save them some costs, but it makes for a very unrealistic-looking cockpit. Thankfully there are aftermarket sets to take care of this shortcoming, and this set is an excellent example. Molded in a polyurethane resin, the parts are all crisply molded and engineered in such a way as to leave very little excess material to remove. The cockpit is made up of a floor, a rear bulkhead, two sidewall panels, an instrument panel, a seat, control stick, and rudder pedals. A small fret of etched brass adds seat belts, throttle quadrant, and an etched instrument panel with the usual clear acetate instrument section. A vacuformed canopy rounds out this set, although only the windscreen and main canopy are provided. The rear windows will have to come from the kit. CMK 7006 P-39Q Interior Set For the Academy kit Academy's 1/72 P-39 is a little jewel of a kit and builds up into an impressive model straight out of the box. But like all models there's plenty of room for improvement. Several companies have jumped on this kit with both brass and resin detail sets, and CMK is no exception. Their interior set is very complete, with a cockpit floor, rear bulkhead, door, sidewall panels, and rear upper decking included in resin. An etched brass fret adds the usual instrument panel, as well as rudder pedals and nose gear doors. These gear doors fit into a resin replacement wheel well. Another addition is the radio set located in the rear fuselage, and the open panel is also included. All one has to do there is cut out the plastic, glue the radio in place, add some stringer detailing on the opposite side, and you'll have something that no one else does. An excellent little set to spruce up an already well-detailed kit. CMK 7008 F-104C Interior Set For the Revell kit This set is best summed up by the word WOW. There's a lot of resin here, and it's all well used, too. Starting at the front of the plane, a new nose is provided. Why? Because a complete radar set is also included! The nose cone features detailing on the inside, while the radar set comes with a main assembly and a separate dish. Moving further aft, the cockpit section has a lot of material replacing kit pieces. A new cockpit tub is just the beginning, as there is also an exquisitely detailed seat as well as a resin instrument panel AND a brass one. The area behind the cockpit is opened up, with all the detailing present and replacement upper decking panels that are to a scale thickness. But there is a downside to this set. It is a superb F-104 detail set, but the only thing that makes it an F-104C set is the seat. The rest of the cockpit is pretty much the same between the F-104C and the F-104G, as is the area behind the cockpit. The radar assembly, however, is very different between the marks, with the most noticeable difference being in the radar dish. The F-104C has a circular dish, while the F-104G has an ovoid dish. The radar dish included in this set is definitely that for the F-104G. It would be a simple matter to make the proper round dish, though, and you can always save these parts for detailing up an F-104G as well. All in all, an excellent detail set that will keep you very busy with the 000 brush. CMK 7009 A6M5c Interior Set For the Academy kit CMK pulled out all the stops on this set. It looks like they took a full-sized Zero cockpit and hit it with a shrink ray. The cockpit is made up of a floor section, two sidewalls, a rear bulkhead, seat, control stick, rudder pedals, and instrument panel. The detail molded into the sidewalls is amazing and will take quite a bit of work when it comes time to paint it up. There is a mixture of resin and brass in this set, with the brass forming the usual instrument panel and assorted other detail pieces. There is also a replacement rear upper decking with headrest to fit underneath the vacuformed canopy. If you want to have an incredible cockpit in your Academy A6M5, get this set and get a pile of reference material. CMK 7010 Hurricane Mk.II Interior Set For the Revell kit Revell's Hurricane kit is probably the best 1/72 Hurricane out there, but there are limitations to the injection process which limits the amount of realistic detail that can be done, especially in a cockpit. This set alleviates that problem in the Revell Hurricane, with a superbly done interior. The set is engineered to actually replace parts of the fuselage sides, so some cutting will be required, but the benefit of this will be the visibility of all this detail. The sidewalls are fully detailed and include part of the fuselage leading up to the canopy. These sidewalls are done to a scale thickness, so they look very good when combined with the included vacuform canopy. One side even has the entry hatch opened up, allowing even more visibility. The instrument panel is the usual brass rendition, and seat belts and rudder pedals are also done in brass. The resin is crisply molded and there's a lot of detail present, so references are a must on this one. Done properly, this set greatly increase the detail level of the already super Revell kit. CMK 7011 F4U-1 Corsair Interior Set For the Academy kit This detail set is somewhat different from others I've seen in that the cockpit tub is just that: a tub. Sidewall, floor, and bulkheads are all one molding in this set, which will make painting a bit more difficult than usual. What's really surprising is that they still managed to get a lot of detail in that tub. A seat and headrest are also provided, as is the usual etched instrument panel. There is also an instrument panel hood included, completing this nice set. While the one-piece tub will make painting difficult, it does make assembly easier and there is still quite a bit of detail molded in, all of which will be visible underneath the clear vacuformed canopy that is also included. CMK 7014 Fw190A Interior Set For the Revell kit The Revell Fw190 kit is an excellent model for the price, and builds up nicely out of the box. This set augments that kit with a simple cockpit replacement that will take a little bit of work yet yield some great results. There's not much to this set, just a floorboard with side consoles and rear bulkhead molded together, a separate seat, control stick, and gun sight, and the rear decking under the canopy, all molded in resin. An etched brass fret provides an instrument panel, seat belts, rudder pedals, and a headrest. While there isn't much in the way of pieces here, the level of detail is superb and it will all be seen under one of the two vacuformed canopies (straight hood or blown).
