This Tameo of Italy 1/43rd kit of the Jordan 196 is modeled as
it appeared at the German Grand Prix piloted by Rubens Barichello.
The kit is comprised of a white metal body, undertray and seat.
The front wing, and endplates are also white metal with the deflector
wing parts and wing uprights being photo-etch brass. The rear wing,
suspensions, seat belts, steering wheel/dash, and are also made
of photo-etch pieces. The wheels are turned brass with photo-ethc
inserts. The driver figure, decals and references for painting the
figure and helmet are included in the kit.
Tameo kits are engineered so well that they really are a pleasure
to build. If you have not tried a Tameo kit I would highly recommend
it. Watch out, however, those 1/43rd scale kits can be highly addictive!
This Tamiya 1/20th Scale Tyrrell Yamaha 023 kit was built as a
high detail build up. This version was piloted by Mika Salo. Turned
intake trumpets, carbon fibre decals, ignition wires, machined rear
shocks, machined valve stems, seatbelts and hardware, and AN fittings
and braided line for the coolant and oil lines were added to an
already fine kit by Tamiya. I used the Formula Perfect Manual for
the Tyrrell 023 by Model Graphix as a reference guide for the build.
"This is the Eduard Morane Saulnier Type L kit # 8007 built
straight out of the box. No references were used that didn't come
from the box. Rigging is heat-stretched sprue from the kit runners.
Even the fuselage tapes were made by painting unused areas of the
kit decal sheet and cutting thin strips. Paint is Liquitex acrylic
thinned with Future.
This was a beautiful kit. Everything fit, even the brass interior
fit perfectly inside the plastic fuselage halves. The decals were
very fragile and need to be coated with clear film before use. The
kit came with two metal engines and is a real bargain. I heartily
recommend this kit to modelers who have some experience working
with brass and plastic."
