If you like aviation, then you'll like this CD-ROM title. This first
CD contains over 1500 photos from around the world as seen from the eyes
of a tanker crewman. This CD has sections on Kosovo and Desert Storm aviation,
as well as some museum static shots and other general air to air pictures.
Not all the pictures are of modern planes, either, as F-104s, F-102s,
and other early jets make an appearance. All the photos are sorted into
folders identified by plane type, and a shareware file viewer is included
as well. A text file is included giving a brief
rundown on what each folder contains. For instance, the A-10 description
states
"These A-10s were on a deployment from Boise, Idaho to Davis-Monthan
AFB in Tucson, Arizona. The unit, the 124FW, had deployed 6 aircraft
to Trapani Airbase in Italy for Allied Force for the Kosovo conflict.
These pictures were taken just west of Bonneville Salt Flats."
While not every plane is identified by serial number or tail code, you
get a good idea as to where they were when the pictures were taken. Each
image is roughly sized to 800x600 resolution and saved as a JPEG file.
Below is a listing of all the types that appear on this CD:
If you're looking for a CD-ROM aviation photo collection, don't pass
this one up. If the quarterly updates are going to be as full as this
one, you definitely won't want to miss a single one.
