I was pleasantly surprised to see these decals show up in the mail! These are the releases from a new decal manufacturer in Mexico called Albatros Modelworks. These first two offerings, produced in both 1/72 and 1/48, cover some much-overlooked aircraft and color schemes. Let’s take a look:
ALC/72-001 & ALC/48-001 – The Southern Flying Tigers
This set
provides ample markings and stenciling to cover multiple projects. In
this set, the focus is on the aircraft of the Peruvian Air Force, including
several examples of the Su-22M Fitter, the humpack MiG-29S Fulcrum C,
the Mirage 5, and the distinctive shark-mouthed Mi-25 Hind E. These photos
do not do these decals justice. The printing is razor sharp and perfectly
in register. The instructions are printed double-sided in color!
ALC/72-002 & ALC/48-002 – The Caribbean Falcons
This set focuses on the Cuban Air Force, with beautiful markings to
adorn almost every MiG-type that the Cubans ever flew. The markings cover
the MiG-15bis Fagot,
MiG-17 Fresco, MiG-21PFM Fishbed F, MiG-21MF Fishbed J, MiG-21bis Fishbed
L, MiG-23 Flogger B, MiG-23BN Flogger H, and MiG-29A Fulcrum A. Markings
are also provided for a Peruvian Mirage. As with the set above, the decals
are perfectly clear and in-register, and the instructions are printed
double-sided in color.
Suggested retail price for these sheets is listed at $9.00 USD. We don’t have information on which distributors are carrying this line yet, but the decals are available directly from the manufacturer. You can reach them at:
