Squadron/Signal Publications has been continuing to produce their outstanding
line of modeler and historical
references. A few of these have been on the street for a month or so,
but for the sake of completeness, I will list them here.
de Havilland DH 2 in Action by Peter Cooksley – 49 pages of black & white photos from WW1, complete with a breakdown and diagrams outlining each of the production variants of the DH 2. The center section also includes color plates outlining the variations in color schemes that were applied in the field.
US Light Cruisers
in Action by Al Adcock – 49 pages full of nice black & white photos
from the Second World War which walk through the various classes of US
light cruisers. In the center of the book is the traditional set of color
plates which illustrate the different classes and a representative sampling
of the camouflage schemes they carried.
P-40 Warhawk in
Detail by Bert Kinzey – this volume is part two of the series, which covers
the Curtiss P-40D through XP-40Q version. It contains 79 pages of color
and black & white photographs which outline the differences and details
of each variant.
P-39 Airacobra
in Detail by Bert Kinzey – continuing his fine tradition of providing
in-depth detailed photography of selected subjects, this latest offering
covers the Bell P-39 Airacobra and the P-63 Kingcobra. It also contains
79 pages of color and black & white photographs which outline the
differences and details of each variant.
Walk Around HH-60
Blackhawk by Richard Dann – 79 pages of color and black & white photos
that nicely walk through the US Army and US Navy versions of the versatile
Sikorsky Blackhawk, and even a look at the US Coast Guard Jayhawk variant.
Walk Around Space
Shuttle by Lou Drendel – This is a nice bit of work which outlines the
development history, operational record, and production variations between
each of the six shuttles built. This book is 79 pages containing extensive
color and black & white photography and details.
