Minicraft Report

By Michael Benolkin

Minicraft was present at RCHTA featuring their latest kit, and Squadron's 'Kit of the Year 2001' - the 1/144 scale McDonnell Douglas MD-80. The kit comes with TWA's current fleet markings but also on display at the show was the artwork for a variety of alternative markings for the MD-80 kit that will be coming soon from Airway Graphics. This kit is reviewed elsewhere in this issue of Internet Modeler, and you'll see why it deserves the Squadron award.

Not wanting to stop there, Minicraft has also announced that during the winter months of 2000/2001, we'll be seeing three other new kits:

  • 1/144 scale Lockheed C-121J Constellation, with markings for the Blue Angels' support aircraft and President Eisenhower's 'Colombine' aircraft.

  • 1/144 scale Douglas C-118A (DC-6) Presidential Aircraft, this kit has markings for President Kennedy's personal aircraft used to fly into airports that the Air Force One 707 could not operate from. This aircraft is currently on display at the Pima Air Museum in Tucson, AZ.

  • 1/16 scale 1931 Ford Flathead V-8 Pickup Truck, highly detailed model with opening doors, tailgate and hood.
