Revell '67 Plymouth GTX 2 'N 1

By Al Superczynski

Overview

The '67 GTX, or Gittix as it is more affectionately known, is one hot car! In its heyday this muscle car version of the Plymouth Belvedere was equally at home on either the street or strip and a quick glance under the hood tells the whole story. The '67 was the first Plymouth to wear the soon-to-be-legendary GTX moniker and equipped with the Super Commando 440 V-8 or optional 426 Hemi the deceptively clean but simple looking Plymouth made its mark as a no-compromise street racer. The special blacked out grille and twin scoops gave it the look of a car to be reckoned with.

The Kit

Having previously released the GTX in separate factory stock and racing versions Revell has now done car modelers a big favor by putting all the drag racing goodies in one box, cramming in a total of 123 parts in white, clear, transparent red, and "chrome" plating, along with six vinyl tires (four Goodyear Polyglas GTs and a pair of Goodyear Dragon slicks). Calling the optional version a street machine in the instructions, Revell provides all these parts for what is actually a drag racing version: tuned exhaust headers, air cleaner, cool can, shifter, dash-mounted tach, mag wheels, and an extra hood scoop. The decal sheet features full detailing for the stock version and graphics for the street/drag car, and is compatible with setting solutions and solvents
