The Lincoln was a natural progression from the Lancaster bomber, designed to provide the RAF with a strategic bomber capable of long flights in the Pacific theatre.  The war ended before it could be used for this purpose, but the improvements over the Lancaster guaranteed its production in the immediate post-war period.  The Lincoln found its way into service with the RAF, the RAAF and the Argentine Air Force and would have been a strong contender in the strategic bomber world if it weren't for the jet engine.  Because of this the Lincoln was little more than an interim bomber, providing a capable platform during the early gestation of the V bombers.

This latest title from Warpaint covers the interesting history of the Lincoln, from the early development from the Lancaster to the last version flown by the RAAF featuring a very stretched fuselage.  Like other titles in this series this book has a well-written text supplemented by a great selection of photos and topped off by plenty of color profiles and a center pullout of 1/72-scale drawings.  If you want to build a Lincoln this is a must-have reference (although finding a Lincoln kit these days could be a bit tough).
