Draw Decal's 1/144 LAN Chile A320s

By Chris Banyai-Riepl

LAN Chile's new livery is an attractive one and I've been waiting for a sheet of this scheme to come out for a while now. Draw Decal has come to the rescue with what I hope is the beginnings of a complete line of LAN Chile decals. This set is for the Airbus A320 and while the example I have is in 1/144 and designed for the Revell-Germany kit, it is also available in 1/200 for the Hasegawa kit.

So what do you get on the sheet? Well, the LAN Chile livery features a dark blue upper fuselage and fin and this you'll have to paint, as well as the dark blue engine nacelles. The large red swoosh along the fuselage is a decal, as is all the titles and tail markings. It's hard to make out in photos, but the top of the tail is actually silver, as is the 'Chile' part of the fuselage titles, and this is represented quite well. Double sets of white are included to ensure opacity over the dark blue color. In addition to the basic livery you also get a complete set of registration codes allowing you to do any one of the LAN Chile A320s. A set of window decals & outlines plus static ports and door outlines round out the sheet. These decals are printed on an ALPS printer and are some of the best decals I've seen printed with this method. The edges are sharp and the colors solid.

My thanks to Draw Decal for the review sample. Check out their website for a rather large number of airliner decal sheets in a wide variety of scales.
