AMPERSAND PUBLISHING'S " ALLIED-AXIS BOOK #4, THE PHOTO JOURNAL OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR

By Ray Mehlberger

This is the fourth book, in this growing series, from Ampersand Publishing. Ampersand, as some of you may already know, also publishes Military Miniatures in Review magazine. This is a quarterly magazine for A.F.V. modelers and is absolutely superb.

This new book is in Ampersand's usual 8 1/2" x 11" page format with a soft cover. It contains 96 pages.

There are several military vehicles covered in the volume. They are:

Schwere Panzerspahwagen 8-rad armored cars
M32B1 Sherman Recovery Vehicle (ARV) Mk. I
Sherman Armored Recovery Vehicle (ARV) Mk. II
M-18 "Hellcat" Tank Destroyer
Panzerselbstfarrlafette V "Sturer Emil"
Panzerbefehlswagen IV
7.5cm Gebergsjager 36
10cm Leichtgeschutz 40, 40/2

There are 167 photos in this book. Some are wartime shots. Others were taken in various museums. There are many walk-around type photos, showing various parts of these vehicle's anatomies. Pictures, for the most part, are very sharp and clear.

This book is a valuable reference for modelers who have kits of these subjects and want to get the details just right.

This book can usually be found at well stocked hobby shops, which is where I purchased my copy.

Very highly recommended.
