Whiskey Jack Decals 1/72 Queen Charlotte Airlines Supermarine Stranraer Pt. 1

By Chris Banyai-Riepl

When I saw this sheet, I just had to have it. I have had a Matchbox Stranraer sitting in the closet for ages now, just waiting for that one interesting scheme. Long having resigned myself to building it up and camouflaging it, this sheet offers something unique and colorful to boot. This sheet is listed as part 1, with part 2 scheduled to feature the earlier QCA markings.

Compared to a camouflaged aircraft, this is one colorful plane. The plane is overall painted aluminum, with the lower hull and float bottoms finished in black. The outer wingtips and lower tail band are yellow, outlined in black. The fuselage features the black and yellow cheatline, complete with the QCA logo. Rounding out the decal sheet are the large registration codes for the wings and the aircraft names, "Alaska Queen" and "Zeballos Queen."

Decal choices for the Matchbox Stranraer are rare, which makes this set very welcome. The fact that it is for a colorful and unique airline adds to its appeal. Now to build the kit!
