Techmod 1/32 F4U & F6F Decals

By Michael Benolkin

Techmod of Poland has released two outstanding sets of decals in 1/32 scale. These are:

32006 - Grumman F6F-3 Hellcat

Designed for the Hasegawa 1/32 F6F Hellcat kit, markings are provided for five different 'cats:

  • K30, VF-1, USS Yorktown, Marianas, 1944

  • 19/BuNo 40427, VF-6, Flown by Lt Alex Vraciu

  • K21, VF-1, USS Yorktown, Marianas, 1944

  • X3, VF-51, USS San Jacinto, 1944

  • 'The Minsi", CVG-15, USS Essex, 1944, Flown by CAG Cdr David McCampbell

A complete set of national markings and maintenance stencils are also provided.

32009 - Vought Corsair II

Designed for the Revell 1/32 F4U Corsair kit, markings are provided for three different Fleet Air Arm Corsairs:

  • JT634/13-7/P of 1834 Sqn, FAA, HMS Victorious

  • JT238/3BB of 738 Sqn, FAA, 1944

  • JT260/P54 of 757 Sqn, DAA, HMS Unicorn, June 1944

This set includes complete sets of national markings for each of the examples as well as a complete set of maintenance stencils.

Conclusion

The decals are all clearly printed and in register, are not at all thick, yet the white areas appear to be nicely opaque. These decals are a must if you want to build something a little different from the out-of-the-box crowd. Given that there are far too few decal offerings in 1/32 scale, these sets are most welcome!

My sincere thanks to the Air Connection for these review samples!
