One of my favourite aircraft is the Supermarine Stranraer, and at one
time I had posted a note requesting more information on it so I could
do some illustrations. Eventually Roger Wallsgrove came calling with an
idea to do a book on the type .. and would I be interested.
Stranraer 915 Seen in overall aluminum finish with type B roundel on
the hull. Note two two-blade propellors bolted together.
Seen in four colour counter shading. Lower surfaces are in sky. No
codes are carried at this time
This one is speculative. We had thought it might be in red trim, however
since sending the artwork to Mushroom, I have come across a colour photo
of another PWA aircraft (not a Stranraer) showing black trim.
Overall alumium with orange, white, green stripes on wings and rudder.
An ASR Walrus, AQ-M shows a unique row of rescues, with each one consisting
of a stylized lifebelt with the number rescued contained within. Four
colour camouflage with light grey codes. Note the handrails along the
hull sides.
For references used in these profiles, I refer you to Supermarine
Walrus and Stranraer by Roger Wallsgrove and James Kightly where a
dozen more illustrations of each type can be found.
