Boeing 747-400ER Walkaround

As I mentioned in the 100-Years-of-Flight article elsewhere in this issue of Internet Modeler, I had the rare opportunity to do a photo walkaround of one of Boeing's largest airlifters - the 747-400ER. Qantas had graciously allowed the aircraft to be parked amongst the other display aircraft while waiting for its evening gate time.

Since I had begun photographing this aircraft near the end of the public display, ground crews were already beginning to service the aircraft with food and supplies in preparation for its upcoming gate time. While my escort and I were chatting away as we peeked and photographed the various parts of the aircraft, one of the Qantas crew kept a sharp eye on us to ensure that we wouldn't do anything to interfere with another on-time departure.
