True Details' Latest 1/48 Resin Cockpit Sets By Michael Benolkin

After a bit of a dry spell, two significant things are happening at Squadron: 1) they've just released some new cockpits for the Tamiya 1/48 P-47 Thunderbolts; and 2) they're stating to re-release the old KMC line under the True Details banner. While Squadron purchased the KMC molds a while back, it took some time to get their new building together and operating so that they'd have the space to do their casting and packaging.

Here is an early cockpit to backdate the Tamiya Razorback into a P-47C or early block P-47D. You'll need a replacement cowling to backdate the exterior of the kit, but we just looked at one of those a few months ago.

This set will work with both the razorback and bubbletop Tamiya kits as the cockpits were identical with the exception of the rear bulkhead/headrest, and True Details provides both!

Here is one of the first KMC re-releases, the beautiful Hawker Hunter F.6 cockpit set for the Academy kit. If you missed out on the KMC sets and have the Academy kit on your shelf, you're back in business!

This was one of KMC's bullet-proof cockpits - a new floor with integral forward and rear bulkheads and the behind-the-rear-bulkhead avionics bay. Just add the two sidewalls, instrument panel, pilot's seat and the kit's control yoke and you have a nicely detailed cockpit with no hassles.

This was one of my favorite sets from KMC and I'm glad to see it back! This set includes a complete new cockpit along with new cockpit car doors and a replacement nosegear well.
