Eduard's 1/72 King Tiger Zimmerit (Self-adhesive)

For the Revell kit.

By Kent Kirkpatrick

Eduard has now made photo-etch easier to apply to a model by adding a self-adhesive backing to their sets. The 24-piece sample set I am reviewing is for Revell's King Tiger (Henschel turret). It is a full set including turret, upper and lower hull Zimmerit as well as other small details simulated in a very thin brass. Only the parts that attach to the model has the adhesive material on it mounted on a wax paper backing to protect it from sticking to their cardboard packaging. It should be very easy to apply based on how thin the gauge of brass that is used. Some people anneal the brass with a heat source to make the brass more pliable but you may not need to here. The instructions are very straight forward including a couple of book references for further visual aid. The detail of the Zimmerit is very clean and to scale. This is the 'undamaged' version of Zimmerit. I hope to see the 'battle damaged' version also in self-adhesive as well. Don't forget to dry brush as this would really make the Zimmerit pattern stand out on your model. I would like to thank Eduard for the review set.
