The History of the Chevrolet Corvette now spans a period of over fifty years and without question is an American automotive icon. Since its initial introduction in 1953 there of course have been some very significant design changes to the car. However, one of, it not the most significant revisions has got to be the transition from the first design, or “C1” which as noted above was established in 1953 to the “C2” that made its début in 1963. The design history and major changes incorporated into “C2” Corvette or “Stingray” as it is more commonly known is the subject of this book. The author does an excellent job of relating the story of this “all new from the wheels up” second generation Corvette. Included with the very well done narrative are over 350 colored reference photos of not only the body styles, interiors and colors but also detailed shot of the various engines, transmissions and suspension systems. The book also covers both the street versions of the Stingray as well as some that were modified for competition. The book even has a section that is totally devoted to model builders.

Conclusion

Whether you are a classic Corvette buff or restoring one, a Corvette historian, or a model car builder this book would be an excellent addition to ones reference library.
