Eduard 1/72 A-26C Photoetch Sets

By Chris Banyai-Riepl

The nice Italeri A-26 kit builds up quite well out of the box, but like any kit, there is always room for improvement. Eduard has released several sets for the A-26K, and now, with the release of Italeri’s A-26C, Eduard has come out with a pair of sets designed for this earlier variant.

Set 73-269 is for the interior, and it is here that Eduard’s pre-painted photoetch really pays off. You get a completely new cockpit section that builds off the kit parts quite nicely. The instrument panel is a beauty to behold, and coupled with the rest of the details, the cockpit will really look quite nice.

The nose section also gets quite a bit of treatment, as this is for the glass-nosed A-26. As much of this area is visible, Eduard has done quite a bit of work here, and it will look quite impressive. A handful of exterior details finish out this set.

Set 72-460 is for the exterior, and while there are no pre-painted parts, there is plenty to spruce up the kit. The landing gear and wheel wells get the majority of this set, with what appears to be a complete wheel well replacement for the main gear wells. The landing gear struts also get some much-needed improvement. Other details include engine wiring harnesses, gun barrels, and windshield wipers.

With these two sets, one could really improve the Italeri kit. While the detail sets are extensive, there should not be anything too difficult to use, and the results will be well worth it. My thanks to Eduard for the review samples.
