Starfighter Decals 1/72 Curtiss P-6E

By Matt Bittner

Finally! We're now seeing more and more released to support Between the Wars aircraft ('tweeners). First was Yellow Wings releasing their decals and now Starfighter has been answering our prayers as well. First releases from them in 1/72nd were for the SBC-4 Helldiver and the Boeing F4B-4. Excellent choices for the first round. Now, they're moving on to USAAC aircraft, the first being this sheet to support not only the Monogram and Accurate Miniatures kit, but also the Olimp kit that came out a few years ago.

There are four aircraft catered for on this sheet, all but one having a blue fuselage with the yellow/orange flying surfaces:

  1. P-6E 32-221 of the 33rd Pursuit Squadron (PS), 1938

  2. P-6E 32-298 of the 94th PS, 1936

  3. P-6E 32-261 of the 36th PS, 1936
  4. P-6E 32-241 of the 94th PS, 1934 (the only one with an olive-drab fuselage)

All decals are in register and extremely well done. However, keep in mind these are ALPS-printer generated so extra care will need to be taken with them. Even so, these are most welcomed decals and there is one aspect I'm extremely happy with - no decals for the 17th PS!!! Yee haw!!
