This set provides the modeler with fuselage codes for all 12 planes
of the squadron. Also included are enough national insignias for six complete
models as well as the three-color propeller tip markings. Typical of Yellow-Wings
Decals the set includes a wealth of information concerning the subject
aircraft, including color data, squadron history, pilot’s names
and the date each aircraft was lost during the fateful Wake Island battle
in December of 1941. As a side note, the new Hobbyboss 1/48 F4F-3 is the
recommended kit.
48-061
1941 USMC VMF-121 F4F-3 “Headed for Guadalcanal”
This set again provides the modeler with fuselage codes for all of the
eighteen aircraft of the VMF-121 including the seven spares. Once again,
enough national insignias for six complete models are included as well
as the three-color propeller tip markings. As with 48-045, a wealth of
information concerning color and manufacturing data is included. Again,
the new Hobbyboss 1/48 F4F-3 is the recommended kit.
My sincere thanks to Yellow-Wings Decals for the review samples provided
for this review.
