While not all released at the same time I thought I would save the preview
on the masks until the rest of the Eduard photoetch arrived. While these
are advertised for the Trumpeter kit, I bet they would work well with
the Revell release as well, since that kit is a bit more accurate than
the Trumpeter kit.
In any event, the Masks (CX-201) are meant not only for the clear pieces
but the wheels as well.
The Zoom set (SS300) covers not only pieces for the ejection seat, instrument
panel and cockpit tub/sidewalls but also includes a piece for the canopy
to represent the rear-view mirrors. Items in this set are self adhesive.
The first "large" photoetch set - 73-300 - supplies pieces
for the cockpit (basically the same as mentioned above for the Zoom set)
as self adhesive parts. In addition, this set includes parts for the exhaust
can, speed brake on the rear, and parts for the radar dish in the nose
and pieces for the openable nose-gun bay.
The second "large" photoetch set - 72-477 is not self adhesive
and is primarily for the exterior. Nose gear and gear-well detail, main
gear and gear-well detail, pieces for the landing gear covers, a separate,
fold-up crew latter, pieces for the intake as well as the load pylons/sway
braces and even more for the speed brake. Lots of stuff to spruce up the
exterior of the Trumpeter Thud.
If wanting just a little bit of detail on your F-105 then go with the
Zoom set. If you want to really deck out your model then purchase both
73-300 and 72-477 and "go to town". Whichever way you decide
to go, both will benefit from using the Mask set. All are extremely well
done.
