This set consists of 2 etched brass sheets, each measuring 5 1/2"
x 2 3/4". Each sheet has various sizes of hexagonal and round holes
etched into the main outer frame, enabling the modeler to push heated
sprue against them to make bolt and rivet heads. Part numbers go up to
90, however counting all the duplicates (tie-downs, etc.) the actual parts
count is 178. One large, double sided instruction sheet is included, as
well as a half sized, single-sided sheet. Each step illustrates, by means
of identified symbols, where to fold or bend, which kit parts to remove,
multiple identical pieces, and whether an item is optional. The following
is a list of features in this PE set.
Choice of solid or perforated tool boxes with separate latches.
A full compliment of side skirts and hanger brackets.
Front and rear mudguards (builder embosses stiffening ridges) and brackets.
Engine air intake screens installed under rear of hull.
Alternate parts for different styles of exhaust pipes and mufflers.
Wood grained jack blocks (3) with reinforcement straps and brackets.
All onboard tool stowage clasps and brackets.
Rear deck vent screen and optional position cover plate with wing nuts.
Multi-piece spare track hanger and two styles of tow cable retainers.
Multi-piece sliding cover for roof-mounted gunner's sight opening.
Remote-controlled machine gun shields.
Numerous tie-down loops in at least three different styles.
Uniform insignia, including Iron Crosses, belt buckles, collar tabs and
shoulder boards, armored assault and wound badges, and eagles for sleeve,
cap, or breast.
All parts are cleanly etched. This reviewer saw no mistakes of any type,
a testament to Eduard's tight quality control. The screens have that cool
woven texture, that unfortunately will be hidden under the hull. The shovel
blade, exhaust cover, and various tie-down straps have a dull, textured
finish. Three jack blocks are included, with prominent wood grain etched
into the surface deeply enough to take a good paint wash.
Conclusion
This set is just the thing to dress up an already nice kit. All the
necessary bits are there, while not so many as to overwhelm the modeler.
This set does not have you remove perfectly good parts in order to install
other perfectly good parts. A happy compromise, and a highly recommended
set. I would like to thank Eduard
for the review set.
