Linden
Hill Imports has released three sets of decals that are bound to make
the modern aircraft modeler very happy. These three sheets cover three
States resultant in the break-up of the Soviet Union. There is one sheet
covering Lithuania, one covering Armenia, and the last covers Georgia.
All decals are spot on, in register and look awesome.
Set #72016 is the first, covering Lithuania. There are six aircraft
type covered, but unlike the other two sheets, this one sheet covers three
scales. In 1/72nd the An-2, An-26, L-39, L-410, Mi-8 and Yak-52 are covered
(two L-410s while only one each of the others). In 1/48th the L-39 and
Yak-52. Finally, in 1/35th the Mi-8.
The next sheet, #72017, is Armenia, and in my opinion is the most colorful
of the three. The following aircraft are catered for: An-2 (1 scheme)
, L-39C (1), Mi-8MT (1), Mi-24V (1), Mi-24P (1), Su-25 (2), Su-25K (1),
Su-25UBK (1) and Yak-52 (1). Note there are two extra decal sheets I don't
show, one of them (with the coat-of-arms for one of the Su-25) being ALPS-generated,
which means care must be taken when adhering these.
The last is Georgia, #72018. It has decals for an An-2 (1 scheme), L-29
(1), L-39 (1), Mi-8T (1), Mi-8MT (2), Mi-24V (1), Mi-24P (1), MiG-21UM
(1), Su-25 (1), Su-25UB (1), and UH-1H (2).
All instruction sheets call out colors approximating Fs 595 where appropriate,
lists each kit manufacturer for each type catered for, and provides history
not only of the aircraft, but also a short history of each State. The
are extremely welcome and are highly recommended.
Huge thanks to Linden Hill
Imports for the review samples. Whenever I can clear up my huge influx
of in-progress models, I will finish my Cooperativa Su-25UBK as the Armenian
example.
