What's New On The Air?
The Plastic Scale Modeling Hour is a new venture to promote the great hobby of plastic scale modeling. It has taken to the airways as a weekly radio program on Warbird Radio which is a virtual station broadcasting over the internet.
The show features discussions about all things related to the hobby...Tips, Techniques, Product Reviews, Announcements. As well as special guests who are of interest to those in the hobby...modelers, industry reps and authors just to name a few. The show is also supported on the web by the show's Warbird Radio webpage as well as a page on my website, Hawkeye's Squawkbox.
As our society and those in our hobby become dependent on technology to get information and interact with others who share the hobby, internet radio and the power of podcasts offers a new tool to reach this audience...a step that many other interests have already embraced and are finding rewarding.
Two episodes of The Plastic Scale Modeling Hour have aired and are available for listening or download on the show's page on Warbird Radio. The first show featured as its first special guest, Zach Baughman from EAA's AirVenture Museum. The discussion included EAA's recent ScaleVenture Model contest and a scale modeling exhibit on display at the museum. The second show featured Hal Miller, Editor at Model Retailer Magazine. The state of the hobby, iHobby Expo, Tamiya paints as well as answered callers questions. Hal has volunteered to be a guest monthly for a segment "The Hobby Industry Report." Hal will take questions and provide answers either during the show or as a topic for a following report on the show.
Our next show airs Thursday, December 8th at 7 PM Eastern. Topics and guest have been booked out as far as February, more potential guests are expressing interest of participating to support this weekly program. A listing of upcoming show topics and scheduled guests can be seen HERE. Again this is a weekly show, airing Thursday's at 7:00 PM Eastern. Rebroadcasts of the previous Thursday show airs daily at 2:00 PM Eastern.
Listeners can Call In or participate with the Live Chat feature found on the Warbird Radio website. Listeners can also communicate via email and Facebook to interact with the show and its host.
The program offers listeners an opportunity to win door prizes which are provided by supporters of the show. So far, Xuron Corp (tools) and Model Retailer (kit) have made product donations. Listeners are directed to either a social media site of the supporters choice or a contact email to enter the door prize drawing. The supporter then picks the winner and the winner is announced on the next show.
