The Kit The Miniwing 1/144 Junkers Ju-287V-1 consists of 28 pieces of cream-colored resin and four vacuformed clear parts - two for each section of clear (the nose and the top of the fuselage) to provide a back up "just in case". Molding is up to Miniwing's usual level of high quality and I could find no pinholes. The decals are only for one version, and I'm guessing maybe the only prototype of this unusual looking aircraft? Always keep in mind that Miniwing decals are ALPS-generated so care must be taken when handling these, and especially when applying them to the model.
There aren't a lot of parts to this kit. It's unclear in the instructions, but I suspect you could get away with gluing the fuselage halves together and then put the cockpit tub in that. One other thing I'm unsure of - if the model will need any type of weight to sit on its nose gear. I doubt it with all that resin, but you might want to anyway "just in case". Glue the wings to the completely fuselage along with the tail parts, as well as the engines since it appears the aircraft was finished in overall RLM 65 on the undersides, and mostly RLM 71 on top (with some spots of RLM 70). Not a difficult scheme. You'll probably want to leave the landing gear off until last to, to avoid breaking these pieces off during painting. Conclusion An unusal looking aircraft, one perfect for 1/144 as it would be quite large in any other scale. It's up to Miniwing's typical high standards of molding and should build into a very decent kit of an usual aircraft. Huge thanks to Miniwing for the review kit. |
