Miniwing 1/144 T-6G "Texan"

By Matt Bittner

Miniwing's version of the T-6G "Texan" consists of x resin pieces and two vac canopies. Resin is - as is Miniwing's standard - cast to a high degree. There are decals for two schemes - an all-over yellow RCAF machine, and a Natural Metal Finished USAF machine. Please remember that Miniwing decals are ALPS-generated, so more care than usual needs to be followed.

This is one Miniwing kit that I feel the cockpit is just adequate. Given the large area of clear canopy there's a lot that can be seen through it. Plus, if you decide to open the canopy up, then you'll definitely want to add more. However, for an out-of-the-box build, the kit contents just "might" be adequate.

Miniwing instructions are just a small one-step assembly diagram, so there are no "steps" to perform. Just use your modeling "judgment" to decide what to add, and when. The wing is one-piece, as is the horizontal tail. Into this is slotted the fin/rudder assembly. The other parts to add to this are the gear, main gear doors, separate engine and one-piece prop.

Conclusion

This is definitely an easy build as there are not too many parts to the kit. Of the releases that were sent in the one parcel this would be the easiest to assemble. It's a great kit and will definitely look like a "Texan" once finished.

My thanks to Miniwing for the review kit.
