Balkan Models 1/48 No. 352 RAF Squadron Partisan Spitfire Decals
By Matt Bittner
Balkan Models tends to release decals for aircraft that in some way, shape or form, flew for or with Balkan-states and their pilots. This release definitely caters for the same. There are eight Spitfires, all flying with No. 352 Squadron RAF, that were marked special to indicate they were flown by Yugoslav pilots. Those aircraft are:- Mk.Vb No. ES 257, Code X, "SLOVENAC"
- Mk.Vb No. EP866, Code G, "HRVAT"
- Mk.Vc No, JK831, Code M, "SLAVONAC"
- Mk.Vc No JK608, Code C, "MAKEDONAC"
- Mk.Vc No. JG948, Code J, "GORICAN"
- Mk.Vc No. JK448, Code W, "OSVETNIK 5. OFANSIZE"
- Mk.Vc No. LZ830, Code K, "POPOV"
- Mk.Vc No. JK790, Code S
The quoted names are those that appear on the nose of each aircraft. Decals are quite nice and appear to be in register. Note that all of these used the Volks filter, and there are differences in wheels, exhausts and rear-view mirrors. Thankfully the instruction sheet shows which options cater to each specific aircraft. Aircraft are finished in the standard RAF day scheme. If you're looking for alternative Spitfire markings, then by all means pick up this sheet.
Our thanks to Balkan Models for sending the review set.
