Eduard it would seem has finished up with F-16s for the time being and moved on to F-4s. Air Force F-4 stuff currently and the Navy F-4 stuff will be "calling the ball" by the time you read this. The pace and the quality of the Eduard Brassin is truly amazing. They are putting out as much Brassin a month as any resin company while keeping up with the pace with etch metal, masks, and kits –quite a feat! The F-4 seats come as you would expect as a pack of two. Each seat consists of two major resin pieces and a number of smaller bits plus a small sheet of color etch. The seat is truly amazing as you can see in close up. It looks odd without the upper cushion, like one of those droids from Star Wars. The detail is crisp. There are no air bubbles and no flash. Cut off the pour stubs, wash off the mold agent, and you are ready to start painting. There's a lot of detail there so careful painting, a nice wash, with some subtle drybrushing will produce a pair of masterpieces for your F-4 pit. I spent hours putting all the color etch on two Hasegawa F-4 seats from Eduard's previous F-4 color etch, but such is not the case with Brassin. The color etch provides the essential belts, details and stencils required to bring the seat to life, and it shouldn't take hours to get there! Some people think color etch doesn't look right, but I disagree. Color etch provides a level of fidelity and detail that is hard to match. It does have a semi-gloss metal look to it that makes it stand out. After you apply the color etch a subtle, very subtle bit of dry brushing plus a flat coat will blend everything together nicely and still give you that 3D look as only Brassin can! Eduard resin seats with color-etch vs. resin seats with molded on belts – the choice is yours. With a great paint job the detail on your resin seats will pop out. With a Brassin seat the detail stand outs because it really is separate and I like it! To go along with your Brassin seats your next F-4 needs a set of Brassin wheels. There is no etch with the wheel set –wheels, chocks, and masks –that's it. That's it? That is truly more than enough. Take look at the molding on those wheels. Have you ever seen a better resin? I was amazed with the depth of the moldings. Take a look at the pictures. Notice the shadows and then read Goodyear on the tires -wow. I wonder how many casts Eduard gets out of a mold. The nose wheels are equally precise with deep hubs and crisp moldings. The tread pattern is deep and straight on all the wheels. The wheels do not appear to be "weighted". Certainly not the flat radial tire look you get with some. When you are ready to paint the masks make painting a simple task. Finish up your display, by chocking the wheels. You wouldn't want your F-4 to roll off the shelf. The Brassin F-4 sets are just what I needed on to inspire me into an F-4. Now where's that sheet for the Iranian Shark Mouth F-4Es. I've got some Brassin to do. Thanks to Eduard for the review sets. |
