Loon Models 1/48 Fw 190A/F Wing Root Gun Covers

Loon Models has released a resin aftermarket product for the Eduard 1/48th Fw 190A/F and Fw 190D-9/11/13 kits.

The product consists of two Wing Root Gun Covers to replace those that come from Eduard.  The Loon product represents the covers in the ‘closed’ position.

The Eduard covers are detailed inside and out, and are meant to be attached in the ‘open’ position, exposing the detailed wing gun enclosures.  But if you wish to cover the guns up, the attachment points on the inside of the covers are non-existent.  The covers loosely lay across the openings and require s significant amount of effort to set right.

The inside of the Loon covers, on the other hand, have a molded ‘block’ of resin that fits snugly into the gun cavity, allowing the outer bulge to shimmy down on to the surface of the wing – an elegant solution to a tricky problem!

Conclusion

If you aren’t going to display the detail of those beautiful wings guns, I would highly recommend skipping the aggravation of working the wing roots by picking up this  simple addition to the otherwise fine Focke Wulf from Eduard.
