Modell-Hobby 1/72 Dakoplast Yak-9 Instrument Panel
By Matt Bittner
An unusual, but well deserved, release from Modell-Hobby is this photoetch and film instrument panel set for the Dakoplast Yak-9. I say unusual because the Dako Yak-9 is not easy to come by, now-a-days. But for those of us that have a number in our stashes, it is a welcome release. This set consists of a two-piece photoetch instrument panel (best sanded lightly before painting) and film to be used as instrument dials behind those photoetch instrument panels (which are painted white on the back side, after gluing to the pieces of photoetch). The smaller photoetch/film assembly is glued to the front of the larger instrument panel, resulting in the raised area of the instrument panel as on the real thing.
If all you're looking for is a more accurate, and better looking, instrument panel for your Dakoplast 1/72 Yak-9 – and have a number of them in your stash – then Modell-Hobby has what you need. (The picture of the Modell-Hobby pieces taken with kit parts is taken with the parts from a Dakoplast Yak-7. I didn't want to dig any of my Yak-9s out, and there were minimal differences between the Yak-7 and the Yak-9 instrument panels.)Our thanks to Modell-Hobby for the review panel.
