Hasegawa's recent release of a 32nd scale Nakajima Ki-44 Shoki had reassured many modelers, especially Japanese aircraft fans, that we are in the golden age of plastic scale modeling. The well-know Model Art team from Japan have issued their latest profile to coincide with this impressive kit release.

Profile 5 follows Model Art's well-established format with sections devoted to scale modeling, technical details of the Shoki, period photos, and closes with a nice assortment of color photos and color chips. The high-quality modeling photos are up to Model Art's usual high standard. Many of the photos will be well-known among j-aircraft fans, but they are nicely reproduced and clear. Similarly, the color profiles offer little information or schemes, but do update some established, early kit markings assumptions.

The real highlight is the full English-language summary for all photos, color plates and paint chips- thank you Model Art for considering the non-Japanese speakers! All in all, a handsome monograph on the purposeful fighter and will make nice companion to the new Hasegawa kit.
