I started this out as a set of drawings of the Vampire and Venom in Swedish service, but the amount of markings out there for each of these plane types changed my mind. This month I'll focus on the Vampire, while some other month will feature the Venom. I hope you enjoy this month's selections. Please let me know what you think.
I've broken this up into three pages. The first page has early Vampires, the second has
British FB5 and FB9s, while the third page has foreign Vampires.

Starting out the Vampire collection is this Vampire F.1 from No. 247 Squadron. This is based on an immediate post-war photo and clearly shows the markings resembling those of late-war British aircraft. The codes and tailband are in Sky, whilst the camouflage is Dark Green and Ocean Gray over Medium Sea Gray.

Next up is another F.Mk.1, this time a Swiss bird. This actually represents the pre-delivery scheme of Medium Sea Gray over PRU Blue. Four F.1s were delivered to the Swiss, followed by 75 FB.6s and some trainers. Noticable is the newer style canopy that was retrofitted to a number of F.1s, including the four that went to Switzerland.

Rounding out the F.1 series is this example from Sweden. The Flygvapnet received 70 F.1s and they equipped a number of squadrons, including F13 depicted here. The finish is dark green upper surfaces with light blue gray undersurfaces. The badge on the nose is a yellow griffon on a red shield.

Next up: Vampire Fighter-Bombers....
