German Luftwaffe detail experts, this page is for you. Featuring the Jumo 004 engine, these pictures are from one of the many Jumo 004s that were brought stateside and given to various technical schools. Each thumbnail has a larger picture behind it. Lots of detail can be gleaned from these, so you can't complain about not having enough information on the Jumo 004 anymore!
A side view showing the general layout of the working systems. The nose and tail cones are still covered.
A three-quarters view from the front. The shape of the nose cone is clearly visible, as is the compactness of the whole engine.
Another three-quarter view, this time from the rear. The tail cone is shown to good effect here.
Moving to the inside of the engine, here we have a front view of the tail cone, looking aft. The vanes are quite apparent, and appear to be slightly angled. The inside of the tail stinger is also visible.
Moving forward in the engine, here is the rear burner casting. I am not entirely sure on the orientation of this piece, but I believe it it forward looking aft.
Here is the piece that fits into the above rear burner casting, with one of the burners removed. The shape and gloss black color of the burners is readily apparent.
Here is the oil and lubricating system still on the engine. The colors of the tubing and piping is shown to good effect. Forward is to the right.
This shows the oil and lubricating system off of the engine, and shows how the piping conforms to the engine. Again, forward is to the right.
Another view of the oil and lubricating system, this time from the left side. Forward is to the left on this one.
