Eduard 1/48 P-38H Accessories

By Jacob Russell

Let's take a look at 3 new sets for Tamiya's Lockheed P-38H Lightning. First is EX 719, a rice paper mask set. You also get masks for the front and main wheels besides the usual canopy and windscreen items. You'll have to do a little "filling in" with liquid masking solution which is detailed in the instructions.

Second is FE1115, a Zoom seat belt harness. This is pre-painted and it consists of 7 well detailed pieces. This will look great with an open canopy.

Third is 49115, one of Eduard's "standard" PE sets. It consists of 52 parts on 2 frets, one of which is pre-painted. This fret includes an instrument panel, throttle quadrants, sidewall consoles, control column gun trigger, radio faces, etc. The standard fret includes the rudder pedals, oleo scissors, radiator faces, and other enhancements. Some of these parts are tiny, hard to manipulate and harder to see! Use your preferred magnification tool (Optivisor, anyone?) and PE folding device. Eduard's instructions are well illustrated and easy to follow. The instructions will show where all of those tiny bits go.

Tamiya's P-38H is a superb, accurate and highly detailed kit right out of the box. Eduard gives you some nice options to increase that detail level. I recommend these sets and I would like to thank Eduard for the review samples.
