Eduard 1/72 Bf110G-4 OVERTREES
By Jacob Russell
This is Eduard's Overtrees boxing of their 1/72nd scale Messerschmitt Bf110G-4 Nachtjäger (Night fighter) kit. It consists of 157 parts on 8 sprues, one of which is clear. This is a well detailed and comprehensive kit. You will find that many of the parts are destined for your spares box. Eduard makes kits of the Bf110C, D, E and G variants, and some sprues (with the notable exception of the engine nacelles) are common to all of the kits.
You can build either a G-2 Zerstörer (heavy fighter/bomber) or G-4 night fighter from the kit contents. The sprues include the enlarged vertical tail surfaces of the F-4 night fighter, the 21cm Werfer-Granate under wing rocket launchers, the ETC 250 fuselage mounted bomb racks, a pair of 551 lb. bombs, and 66 Imperial Gallon drop tanks.
You also get 2 different styles of flame damper night fighter exhausts, armored windscreen, and the FuG 220 SN-2d antenna with 2 different styles of dipole arrays. Plus the kit includes treaded or smooth tires, and open or closed canopies.

Because this is an Overtrees kit, it lacks both decals and instructions. But you can download the instructions from Eduard's website, and there are a lot of aftermarket decal sheets, from Authentic Decals, AeroMaster, Eagle Editions, Third Group, etc.
Eduard's Messerschmitt Bf110G-4 kit is accurate and well detailed, albeit a bit complex. It's sufficiently detailed out of the box that you can get by with a set of photo-etch seat belts. Or you can take your pick from a suite of Eduard enhancements (photo-etch sets, canopy masks) or choose some resin detail parts from their Brassin line (wheels, cockpit, engine, gun bays).
I recommend this Overtrees kit and I would like to thank Eduard for the review sample.
