X-Scale 1/144 DC-8-53 KLM

X-Scale 1/144 DC-8-53 KLM

By Matt Bittner

Overview

X-Scale released their first 1/144 DC-8 some time ago. I refer you to the First Look we provided on that release.

This Release

X-Scale has provided all the parts to create a DC-8-53 versus the original -32. New wings, inlcuding the 4% leading edge extension; and engines, of the JT3D variety are the majority of the changes between the -53 and the -32.

This time X-Scale provides decals for one KLM aircraft flown in 1974. The decals look really nice and appear to be in register.

There are some unique ways X-Scale has designed their kits, but that is not a complaint, just a way of current 1/144 model technology.

Conclusion

Another excellent DC-8 provided by X-Scale. I'm looking forward to all of their upcoming releases.

Huge thanks to X-Scale for the review kit.
