Eduard 1/72 Prepainted Cocos Palm Leaves
By Chris Banyai-Riepl
Overview
When it comes to creating realistic ground cover and plants for vignettes and dioramas, scale modelers have had some challenges at finding results that were realistic and to scale. Eduard has stepped up with a series of pre-painted photoetch plants that help answer that problem, with the range covering regions from around the globe.
The Cocos Palm Leaves
For those not familiar with the Cocos nucifera scientific name, these are for the coconut palm. The coconut palm can be found throughout the tropics, which means that this set of pre-painted photoetch has extensive potential. These trees are popular throughout the Pacific as well as elsewhere in the world, both as native species and as decorative trees. This set provides six fronds, which is enough for a small tree. Alternatively, one could use these off a tree, as camouflage material on a vehicle or foxhole.
Conclusion
This is a great set for anyone creating South Pacific vignettes or dioramas, as the coconut palm is a common sight there. My thanks to Eduard for the review sample.
