Eduard 1/72 Prepainted Rushes
By Chris Banyai-Riepl
Overview
When it comes to creating realistic ground cover and plants for vignettes and dioramas, scale modelers have had some challenges at finding results that were realistic and to scale. Eduard has stepped up with a series of pre-painted photoetch plants that help answer that problem, with the range covering regions from around the globe.
The Rushes
Another interesting addition to the growing Eduard foliage lineup, this set provides eight rushes for use in the wet areas of your latest diorama or vignette. There are two styles provided here, five with the solid cattail and three with a fuzzier top. Both are done in two halves that are folded together, giving several leaves that are then bent downward to provide a realistic look. The key here is to make these bends smooth and random. I would recommend using several round items to bend these around, to keep them smooth bends.
Conclusion
These small foliage details that Eduard has been putting out as of late are a great use of photoetch and their pre-painted technology, as we now have some great easy-to-use ground cover that add a great bit of realism to any kind of display base. My thanks to Eduard for the review sample.
