Armory 1/144 F-104 Wheels

By Matt Bittner

Overview

One of the best 1/144 F-104 kits was produced by Revell. Recently, though, Mark I has re-released the Revell kit using new decals and in one instance, new parts to backdate the Revell F-104G to the F-104A/C. In addition, Mark I has released a weapons set for the F-104, and RetrokiT has released their own F-104C conversion for the Revell kit, as well as a resin cockpit replacement. Another nice F-104G kit was put out by Platz/F-Toys.

The Wheels

Armory supplies two 1/144 wheel releases for 1/144 F-104s, one set for the F-104A/C, the other for the F-104G. Both sets come with "weighted" tires (i.e. "bulged") and both sets are very nicely molded.

"Universal" means the wheels aren't drilled to a specific kit so you'll need to drill the hole out to meet the model's landing gear "axle".

Conclusion

Armory's aftermarket wheels are top-notch and these will definitely look great on any 1/144 Starfighter.

I definitely thank Armory for supplying these sets to review.
