Balkan Models 1/72 Airacobras In Foreign Service
By Matt Bittner
It appears that Balkan Models new series - Winglet - contains markings for only a few aircraft, and follow a specific theme. The first release in the Winglet series is Airacobras in Foreign Service. The following three aircraft are catered for:
- P-39Q-25-BE, No. 4 (44-32664), GC II/9 "Auvergne", Armee de l'Air, 1946, finished overall in Olive Drab on top and Neutral Grey on bottom
- P-400 (Airacobra Mk.I), No. AH574, RNAVY (deck landing trails), 1945, finished in Dark Green/"Mix Grey" over Medium Grey
- P-400 (Airacobra Mk.I), No. AH621, RAF, 1941, finished in Dark Earth/Dark Green over Sky Grey
Decals are nicely printed and appear to be in register. While the instructions call for the Academy kit, I wouldn't see why they wouldn't fit the newely released RS Models kits, or even the upcoming Airacobra series from AZ Model. Soon it will be really great to be a 1/72 Airacobra builder.
My sincerest thanks to Balkan Models for sending this decal sheet for review.
