Brengun 1/72 Eduard Avia B.534 Series 4 Photoetch
By Matt Bittner
If you have seen any of the press about the kit you'll know that Eduard has another winner on their hands with the superlative 1/72 Avia B.534. Their first release was the ambitious Quattro Combo Royal Class providing no less than four kits in the box, along with thirty (30!) different decal schemes. So once you've built the four kits in the Royal Class release you still have another 26 schemes you can choose to build. And since Eduard released just the plastic of the B.534s as "Overtrees" as a less-expensive release (along with the already released, and probably more, Weekend Edition of the Series 4) there are plenty of opportunities to build Avia B.534s for quite some time.
Since the Weekend and Overtrees releases won't contain anything extra one of those would be a good starting point to add this set from Brengun. While the set does contain a fold-up piece to represent the cockpit framing, it's flat and I'm pretty sure the interior pieces were "tubular" (dude). So you might want to use the kit sides anyway and add the other photoetch pieces to it. But that's up to you, truly. Brengun also provides a fold-up floor you could use but the rest of the parts will be good. These pieces include a throttle quadrant, flying surface control wheel, etc., plenty of pieces to add the sides. Brengun includes belts for the seat, a gun trigger for the control stick and "cocking handles" for the gun-butts inside of the cockpit. They also included a two-piece instrument panel (photoetch and a piece of clear film with the dials printed on) to add to the plain plastic piece. For the exterior there are grills for front and rear of the radiator. Finally there is a pitot for one of the struts, a gun sight and a step for the cockpit.
So if you want something more than what is provided with the Weekend or Overtree release of Eduard's 1/72 Avia B.534 Series 4 this is an excellent set to add more detail to your kit.
A big "thank you" to Brengun for supplying the review sample.
