Eduard 1/144 F6F-5 Photoetch
By Matt Bittner
Overview
When Eduard decided to release Platz kits under their banner, I hoped it would be beneficial because Eduard might provide their aftermarket expertise to these kits, and they did not disappoint.
The Photoetch
There are some that may be skeptical on why photoetch for 1/144. Not me, as it adds details that would otherwise be missed. Plus, photoetch adds more "scale likeness" to a kit more than injected plastic couuld. So for their release of Platz' F6F-5 Eduard provides photoetch parts for the cockpit (a fold up affiar that sits on top of the plastic floor); seat belts; a "roof" over the main landing gear well to provide detail for the landing gear well (after removing the molded-in detail); replacement oleo scissors for the landing gear; and fins for the bombs.
Conclusion
I think for the cockpit alone this photoetch set is worth the cost. Even if you don't display the canopy open (like I'm planning) the photoetch provides excellent detail for the interior.
I definitely thank Eduard for sending this photoetch set for review.
