Eduard 1/144 Platz/Eduard P-47D Razorback Photoetch

By Matt Bittner

Overview

One of the best things to come from Eduard re-releasing Platz kits under their own banner has been the release of photoetch for these kits. Eduard continues that trend with photoetch for the Platz 1/144 P-47D.

The Photoetch

Eduard has designed this set to complement the "tub" Platz has molded-in. There is no plastic surgery needed to the cockpit, instead all parts are either added to the tub, or are new parts entirely. That's where Eduard begins, is with a new, fold-up replacement seat. To complement the seat Eduard has provided a two-piece, fold-up headrest and armor; a back support; and all belts for the seat. For the molded-in cockpit tub Eduard has provided sidewall detail for both sides and a replacement instrument panel. Finally, they have provided a cap for the underside belly fuel tank as well as main gear well "ceiling" detail, which is added after removing the molded-in detail.

Conclusion

This is a great addition to an already superlative kit. It will really make your Platz/Eduard 1/144 P-47D look great.

My thanks to Eduard for the review sample.
